E-Commerce Assignment: Prototype E-Commerce site design and report

You are required to select a current E-commerce site and produce the following report. Agree your choice of site with Sue and give a presentation and a report of around 3,000 words or equivalent. Select an example that has the potential for online payment and internationalization and where there is some scope for improvement for the site and its business model.

You will give a presentation on 16/01/13. In this presentation you should:

Introduction to the e-commerce organisation – is it B2C, B2B….
Introduction to the e-commerce site including screenprints
Brief overview of business model (concentrating on one or two key elements, eg revenue model)
Suggested improvements.

Your report, to be handed in on 01/02/13, must cover the following topics:

An introduction to the organisation, including the extent to which your chosen example will attract B2B customers, analyzing the difference between B2B and B2C E-Commerce
An assessment of the existing site using a task analysis applying either Loranger and Nodder’s phases of B2B E-Commerce (B2B or research with a potential customer (B2C). This should include an analysis of user requirements.
Your analysis of the e-commerce business model, applying a framework such as Timmer’s 8 Key Elements.
Give your recommendations for e-procurement and e-marketing for the chosen e-commerce business, including the application of appropriate frameworks.
Your recommendations for the development or improvement of on-line ordering and payment, including your analysis of security issues.
Your recommendations for the internationalization of the site.
Implementation issues for the organisation, including recommendations for site features. This should include your advice on hosting and development platform.
A references section using the Numeric convention. Please include academic as well as business sources.

Part 1 (30%): You will give a ten minute presentation to the class and tutor, or produce a poster presentation. This will be scheduled for Wednesday 16/01/13.

Part 2 (70%): You will complete a 3,000 word written assignment on your chosen topic
