An annotated bibliography is a list of sources that I have found during my research project and that I plan on using to support my researched argument. It is a more conventional way of organizing research than the Synthesizing Ideas & Information assignment (file) I already completed, so I might be asked to put together an annotated bibliography in other college classes. Annotated bibliographies generally consist of an introduction, an alphabetized list of citations, summaries of each source, and an evaluation of why each source is important for my research project.
For this annotated bibliography I need to have 6-8 sources (possibly including the four sources I found to complete the Finding & Identifying Sources assignment (file). At least three of these sources should be academic.
My annotated bibliography should include the following:
• An APA-formatted title page
• A one-two paragraph introduction that describes the situation/issue I have been researching and that my sources have helped me appreciate the complexity of. In other words, my introduction should summarize the key points that my sources have made about the situation/issue.
• An evaluation paragraph that describes the argument strategies I can use with each source to defend specific claims in my researched argument (refer to the Argument Strategies handout (file) and my class notes).
