Page 1: Write a 30-second PSA on integrity and responsible use of social media (about 60-75 words). Your PSA must include:
1.At least one of the persuasive speaking strategies listed here (pgs. 454-461): general emotional appeal, fear appeal, anger appeal, cognitive dissonance, or refutation.
2.At least one of the vivid language strategies listed here (pgs. 401-403): metaphor/simile, alliteration, parallelism, and/or antithesis.

 

Page 2: Write a page:

a. identifying which persuasive speaking strategy or strategies you used

b. defining that strategy in your own words (no copying directly from the text book)

c. justifying why you thought that strategy would be most effective

 

Page 3: During the pod discussion, you will be delivering your PSA to your classmates in the hope that your PSA is chosen as the best. On page 3 of your pod assignment:
1.describe how you prepared to deliver your PSA
2.discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using manuscript delivery (pgs. 406-407) based on your experience.
Page 4: Write two discussion questions based on the concepts/ideas from Chapters 12-15 and “Steps to Preparing Your Speech” you would like your pod members to address during this pod meeting. These questions should be developed in ways that promote reflection on and discussion of the relevant readings. So avoid short answer or bipolar questions (questions that involve yes/no, true/false). If your question involves asking others their opinion, you must be willing to first state and explain your opinion.
