choose one of the theories found in the Wood textbook. you will research and write a preliminary research list and a limited review of literature. your job is to write an expanded report on one theory. much like a book report describes a book or a biography describes a persons life, this paper should, above all, describe a theory or concept. you will need significantly more information than either of our books provide.
SECTIONS OF PAPER:
first, create a bibliography of 30-50 sources on your theory
then, using sources you found for bibliograph, identify the following:
1. who are the originators of the theory? offer a brief explanation as to who they are and what they have done with the theory.
2. describe, define the theory (overview) the big picture of the theory(more than what is found in Wood-textbook)
3. what are the major terms of the theory? definitions of concepts–what are the main concepts and how have they been defined?
4. additional research employing this theory: what research has been done on this theory? who has done what? what new information have they developed? have they added to the theory? etc.

in this section you will describe how communication scholars have employed/tested/applied the original theory/
a. how has the theory been tested? in what ways have other researchers tested the original theory?
b.how has the theory been applied? in what contexts has the theory been applied/used
c. what shortcomings of the theory have been identified?
d. new directions? have communication scholars developed any new directions for the theory?

once youve described the theory, you’ll then need to elabortate on how the theory works, how is has been tested, how it has been applied, and what shortcomings have been identified. this will require that you research several sources, which may include books, book chapters and scholarly journal articles.
