– CRITICAL ISSUE: Identify one issue only. This is the crux of case analysis, namely, to identify with some specificity the critical area/aspect of organizational functioning that the general manager must address (by formulating and implementing a strategy). Your aim should be to argue convincingly on the basis of case facts that this indeed is a critical issue. Be sure to avoid discussing any strategy solutions at this stage, so that a proper understanding of the issue can be achieved without the premature influence of strategy preferences. It helps to state the issue in the following form (a single sentence), so that various possible strategies do not interject themselves at this initial issue identification stage: “A critical issue in this case is …”.

– RECOMMENDED STRATEGY, IMPLEMENTATION STEPS, AND EFFECTIVENESS:
(a) Recommended Strategy: Describe the two/three major components of the strategy that is being recommended;
(b) Implementation Steps: Details of implementation steps, or who will do what and in what sequence; and
(c) Effectiveness of Strategy: Discuss the effectiveness of the strategy, or how the strategy, considering all its components in an integrated manner, addresses the critical issue (it is essential that you end each discussion point here with an explicit comment about the logic of how in your view the strategy would address the critical issue). Think in terms of if/then logic. For example, if we do x, then y will occur.

– Formatting for Paper: write in essay format (no bullet points), type double-space, 12-point font, one-inch margins on all sides, segment headings and sub-headings, indented paragraphs, pagination.
