I have known my informant since high school. She was 16 years old when she got pregnant. She is from Panama with a Hispanic background. I see that her and her family are very family oriented. They love big families. My informant sort of planned to have a baby but was unsure of the consequences she faced of being a teen mom. My informant’s father disowned her because of the decision she made at a very young age was disrespectful to him and to his role as a father. Her family does live in a very hard life of poverty and lives in a rough neighborhood in Brooklyn New York.
My informant presents herself as if she is full of regrets of choosing the wrong path but confused of really wanting a child badly when she was a teen. She battles from regrets and confusion of "what if’s". My informant now is 23 years old and wants to go back to school to help enforce education on teen sex and pregnancy.
