You are to form a group of 2 students (only exception allowed will be working alone). This is a research project, meaning that you will have to create a proposal, conduct a literature review, and collect primary data using research methodologies and their tools. You will analyze the data and use it to complete your final paper. The final paper must be 10-12,000 word in length (not including appendices)

 

The idea is to choose an existing firm based in the UAE and choose an overseas market the group thinks will be suitable for the chosen firm that they are NOT currently in.

 

The main purposes of the project is to develop a report consisting of a market evaluation and strategic planning for a firm in the UAE intending to enter a new overseas market. In order to do this the group has to prepare a detailed market analysis must be performed, You should work as if you represent the UAE firm (as a hired consultant) planning to expand its operations to a new country and prepare varying strategies which make entry into this new country market easy.

 

Also needed are a detailed HR policy for the overseas market, finance report detailing the expansion costs and potential revenue as well as risk position. An operations management plan should be developed that details the supply chain, etc.

Choose a firm that you may already work for, or have access to. You will have do considerable primary research, and you need to be able to make sure that you are able to get the data from the firm in order to be successful. Therefore don’t select a firm for which you are unable to do this for.

 

 

Tips for SELECTING A COUNTRY:

Select a country in which the group has some interest. It can be an industrialized or a developing nation. Some suggestions include: leading emerging markets such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Egypt, Hungary, India, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, Vietnam, European Union or Eastern Europe etc.

 

The proposal will be due first and I will not allow any changes after the proposal stage to either the topic, or group pair. A more detailed project paper will be composed and will send it to you, along with the proposal requirement.
