Alice Lemon married James Lemon 12 years ago. Alice was 16 at the time and James was 20. Although it is customary for the bride’s parents to pay for the wedding, Alice was unfortunately not on talking terms with her parents. Thus, James’ parents who are very wealthy, paid for a lavish wedding which took place at Lompton Country House.
Following the marriage, the couple bought a large house in Lompton close to James’ parents. The house was purchased in James’ sole name and is currently worth £1.2 million with a mortgage of £500,000. The couple have one child together, Dexter, who is 7 years old.
Both Alice and James went to university and James works as an investment banker earning £120,000 per year. Alice is a part time accountant earning £25,000 per year. The couple have no savings but James does have a pension which is already fairly large due to his high earnings.
Two and a half years ago, James discovered that Alice was having an affair with Reg, another accountant at her practice. Although Alice and James initially separated, they tried to make the relationship work. After 8 months, Alice decided that she had very strong feelings for Reg and so she told James that their marriage was over. For the sake of Dexter, Alice and James remained living together for 18 months. However, Alice now feels that in order for her relationship with Reg to have any chance, this arrangement must come to an end. Alice and James do their own laundry and have been sleeping in separate rooms but they eat their meals together.
