A Persuasive essay: Reading is believing!

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. But let us face the fact alright? You see, a lie is not a lie if you actually believe it at first. However, a two man busted situation, gives you a chance to know the truth from the horse’s mouth. Therefore, an article does not qualify as a persuasive essay if they do not induce the readers or listeners into believing that the events described actually happened.

It determines the writers’ ability to follow instructions and stick to the topic under scrutiny or the subject being expounded on.  It does not matter what purpose you are writing the essay but it will not get you past the delivery desk if there it cannot initiate an argument between two sober drinkers in a bar or travellers at a bus stop.

Just like every other essay, a good writer should be able to evenly distribute his or her content into the title, thesis statement, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion.

1.  Title

In most cases the title includes the keywords that should be able to give the reader a hint on what the persuasive essay is all about. It determines the nature of the essay; be it an application letter, informative article or a description of a product or a place that attracts the reader into wanting to use or visit the place. So in short, it explains what is to come gets the mind running towards a certain topic. The title should therefore be straight to the point.

2.  Thesis Statement

This part of treatise convinces the readers that they need information and should keep reading. It gives them something to write in their personal notes, and leads them to preparing a questionnaire in the mind which later on gets answered by the supporting paragraphs. If your thesis statement does not poke them into becoming their own personal interviewers, then it may not end up as a persuasive essay. This statement keeps them glued to the paper makes them obey the invisible ‘Please Turn Over’ sign. Only in this case you do not have to plead with them.

3.  Supporting Paragraphs

This gives you the opportunity to expound on the points in the thesis statement. In a persuasive essay, you identify the facts and then emotionally interpret them to the readers. A writer’s aim is to influence the readers to see your point of view on the matter in discussion. If they agree with you at the end of the not less than three supporting paragraphs, then you are have won their trust.

4.  Conclusion

This part of the article sends the reader on his way to take action based on the information they have gathered from you. If the first three parts of you persuasive essay were influential enough, you do not want to end it with a paragraph or sentence that shows them what a lousy cake baker you are. You need to top it up with a sweet icing coat. For example, ‘you better get off that chair and get started on that application letter. This time, prove to the recruiter why he should give you that job and leave out the others.’
