At the beginning of the 21st century, the UN ordered a serious examination of the peacekeeping efforts of the 1990s and suggested reforms in the so-called Brahimi Report which we will examine

These years also saw peacekeeping operations in Burundi, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo Eritrea and Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan, and Syria Such a number of commitments meant that, UN Peacekeepers were stretched incredibly thin and were taking on increasingly diverse missions These missions required them to develop new strategies to accomplish missions unstable environments with an ever-changing list of requirements and expectations

In this forum we should discuss the types of reforms recommended, and how they played out in the peacekeeping operations of the past decade  What new challenges did they face? Were they successful?

Understanding Developmental Milestones

 

An in-depth understanding of developmental milestones in infants and toddlers will help families and educators collaborate to promote healthy cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development in young children.

For this assignment, you will create a digital handout for each of the ages listed (birth to 12 months; 13-24 months; 25-36 months; and 37-48 months) that could be emailed to families. The handouts should be professionally presented and visually appealing.

In each handout, you will explain developmental milestones children should achieve at each of the following ages. The handouts must include:

  • Description of cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development characteristics and needs of a child at that age
  • Description of at least one milestone in each developmental area
  • Explanation of the long-term importance of each milestone

 The social and emotional development of young children includes four components: Trust and emotional security, self-awareness, self-regulation, and relationships with other children. Identify 3-5 books that could be used with young children to promote these four components. List activities that could be used in conjunction with the books to support young childrens social and emotional development. Each candidates post should include books that have not been shared by other classmates.

 The cognitive development of young children includes four components: Exploration and discovery, memory, problem solving, and imitation and symbolic play. Young babies enter the world ready to learn and begin immediately to acquire and process new information. Based on this understanding, identify the importance of promoting cognitive development for infants and toddlers and note indicators and examples of behaviors for the four components listed above at each of the three stages: Young infant (birth to 8 months), older infant (6-18 months), and toddler (15-36 months).

Content-based classroom events can be a fun way to engage students and involve families in their childrens education. Planning for such an event in your classroom is a big task and takes time and preparation. Preparing for assignments and events requires attention to detail, realistic and specific expectations, and practice.

Part 1: Outline

Select a grade level 5-8 and outline a lesson that integrates social studies and the arts, and turns the classroom into a wax museum as an instructional activity.
