The classical definition of leadership no longer fits P–20 education. In an increasingly-globalized world, there are so many interest groups with so many different agendas that an education leader’s job is better described as a collaborator, negotiator, or facilitator.

Your final assignment pulls together many threads that are woven through the course: external forces that influence P–20 education, values and ideologies, research methods, the media, and education politics. You will be asked to develop a political action strategy that demonstrates your mastery of these constructs and your commitment to working on the issue you identified in Module 2. You will serve as an advocate for positive change.

To prepare for this assignment, review the information in your Data Collection Worksheet and graphic diagram about structures and organizations with an interest in your issue. Review the resources on political action strategies and conduct a search online and in the Walden Library for information on strategies used by issue advocates.

In this scenario, you have been invited to make a presentation to a conference of professional educators. Your assignment is to develop a 10–15 slide PowerPoint presentation that provides basic information about your issue and challenges your colleagues to join you in supporting positive change. Provide slide notes that give examples and cite references.
