diversity
choose short stories and poems that appear in the Norton Introduction to Literature, Shorter Tenth Edition. It is encouraged that you choose stories and poems that we have discussed in class, but you may choose to write about others that you are interested in researching further, as long as they appear in the class book.
*Write a strong thesis in which you clearly introduce the authors’ names and the stories and/or poems you will be analyzing along with the ideas you will be discussing.
*Make use of quotes from the texts and comment on them. Never leave a quote hanging. You should always have something to say about it in your own words as far as how it fits into your topic.
*Use at least two (2) outside sources per paper other than your book to help you discuss any social issues or stylistic elements in the texts. Make sure your sources are reliable and academically respected. (You may use Wikipedia as a reference, but not as an actual source).4. Select one OR two short stories or poems and discuss how they encourage diversity. Talk about what you have personally learned about the culture portrayed in the text(s) and how the author(s) approaches the topic. You might think of topics such as how different cultures view themes such as family, love, coming of age, death, religion, politics, gender, food, art, music, celebrations, and so on. Use specific examples from the text(s) to show your evidence and use sufficient background information from your sources.
