You have been asked to create an illustrated guide on an aspect of Editing that includes inspirational examples and an explanation of best practice.

The guide should include professional & technical considerations. The guide might include best practice when shooting to edit, the workflow from pre-production, production into post-production and organizing your work to edit efficiently, OR it might focus on one aspect of editing such as best practice when layering sound OR designing and creating a montage OR colour grading footage to create a mood or a style.

Tasks
1 – Research the topic technically and creatively and include 3 examples that demonstrate best practice within the topic. These examples might include finished pieces, or screencasts / appropriate clips showing the making of by professionals in the industry.
2 – Based on your research create your own version of best practice. Explain and illustrate your workflow clearly, point out the both opportunities and the challenges.
3 – Use this workflow creatively yourself to produce a short piece (minimum 1 minute). The finished piece will depend on the topic that you have chosen; it could be a short film, the sound bed to an animation, a montage for an advert or music video, the colour grading of a scene. The piece should be technically correct as well as aesthetically pleasing.
