Your goal is to familiarize your classmates with your disability category-esp .focusing on what is most important for non-special educators to understand about students with your disability category. In doing this you will address six areas. this will include the disability’s definition, trends and issues in the field of education surrounding your category, a description of the learning and behavior characteristics associated with disability, research-based instructional interventions that are used successfully with students falling in your disability category, any specific assessment and testing issues for students in your category, and accommodations and supports that have found successful for students with your disability label, especially as they relate to students’ inclusion in general education classes. Your focus should be on what general / bilingual education teachers should know, understand, and do to successfully teach students in your disability category. In this regard, you may also want to describe the teacher’s characteristics that are best suited for your disability category.at the conclusion of your presentation, please share with your classmates at least two websites that you think would be most helpful to general/bilingual teachers in their work with students in your disability category.
