Part 1: (45%)

 

Choose a Multinational Enterprise (MNE) that is headquartered in the UK and listed on the FTSE 100 Index on the London Stock Exchange. You are required to;

 

4. Review in general terms its growth and performance over the past decade. (10%) – Annual Report
5. Identify and provide an assessment of how the key factors within the international business environment have impacted on the company’s recent performance and development. How are these factors likely to impact on the company in the near future? (35%) – Positive/ Negative Key Issue

Part 2: (45%)

 

With reference to your chosen Multinational Enterprise (MNE) and by using the most recent annual report published (say 2012), analyses the financial performance of the company in the current year (2012) and compare this to the preceding year’s financial information (prior year 2011 comparative figures will be available in the 2012 annual report). Student should also evaluate and discuss:

 

1. The impact of foreign currency fluctuations on company’s performance and discuss how the company minimizes exposure to foreign currency risk
2. How current developments in tax policy will impact the company – taxation
3. How the company’s earnings per share results, as published in the annual report, compares to that of a competitor also listed on the FTSE 100 Index.

 

(Review of recent financial performance – 25%;

Analysis of the impact of currency fluctuations, taxation and competition – 20%)

 

5% will be awarded for presentation, structure, grammar and spelling.

 

5% will be available in respect of referencing, sources and style.
