I really enjoy video games because I grew up with them. I’v been playing all types of games since I was very little, my older brother has always liked video games so I basically have played them my whole life.

Its something that I enjoy doing because you can just forget everything and play a video game and de-stress after a long day. You can also explore all these different worlds and different characters in some of the video games. (long pause)

My dad taught me how to play a card game, its called hand, it’s a traditional game in my country. Four people need to play this game and you would play in teams of two.. So the principle is that you would need to Umm gather the cards in either ascending or descending order, so each player would have about 14 cards and each round a player would get a new card and get rid of an old card and the one who basically has the most numbers in the right order of the cards would have the most points. Umm It’s the kind of game that you would play with your parents, your aunts and uncles, its sort of a social event. So if you have family visiting definitely people would be playing card games and It would last for hours and hours.

These kinds of games are still popular today because they just bring people together, they are a lot of fun to play and they are cheap entertainment. I think they will continue in the future because they are the type of thing that would be passed down from generation to generation. So growing up I would see my brothers, my aunts, my uncles playing these games and I would always want to learn and participate.. I’ve also taught some of the younger generation people in my family to play these games, so I think they will definitely continue to play them.

The kind of games that I would enjoy the most or play the most is video games. One of my favourite games is a role playing game its called final fantasy and basically its about this group of characters and each of them would have a different skill and you would have to level up these characters, there is a big big world to explore which is what I love about these games. I just love going to these different places and exploring different .. cities ..and you can also talk to different characters and hear their storylines they are usually pretty engaging. It’s the kind of game that you can play alone or you can play it online which is really fun, and although you don’t know who these people are, or their name, everyone just has a nickname, and online nickname, but its still fun to play with other people. So on the online version of this game you would basically bring all your friends together and go explore the world together and fight monsters together which is basically a lot of fun.

Games have changed a lot since I was young, umm maybe board games not so much but video games definetly because we now have better technology, better graphics, bigger games. Umm some changes have been positive, better graphics are always a good thing, but sometimes I feel like older games had better story lines and were more engaging so you would see people going back and playing the older games. I also have some games that I had as a kid that I like to go back and play even though they have really bad quality compared to todays games, but I guess its just something I grew up with.

I think children like playing games because they are basically fun. Its an easy way to socialize with other people, but having competition in these games for kids might not always be a good thing. I mean, a little competition is good but it should be about everyone having fun and no one being left out. Games can unite people because if two people play a certain game and they have two completely different backgrounds they still have something in common, they can still discuss this game. You also have these big sport games like the soccer world cup where everyone would just gather and watch all these games .. all over the world, so they definitely do bring people together.

I think competition between game companies is important because that how you make something better, you need a little bit of competition, so we have todays companies.. making new consoles and making new games and trying to make games that are better than the other company which I always think is a good thing to just generally try making better games with better graphics and better technology. The most recent of these competitions has been between PlayStation and the new x-box, so everyone is trying to advertise their product because people will buy just one or the other. People will not buy both because basically have the same set of games but with slight differences and if you buy this console once you are not going to buy it again so this is their chance to advertise their consoles. I will probably end up buying the new PlayStation because I always have has a PlayStation so I guess that’s the console im used to, that’s the console I’ve always had. It also has slightly better hardware, not by much, but its better. So, each year they would have this conference called E3 where they would show their new consoles and games and when I watched E3 this year I was more impressed with the PlayStation not that they are all that much different from each other, I guess it just depends on what kind of thing you would like to have. So I think later this year I will try and buy a PlayStation 4, my brother already has one because he can’t wait, but I think it would be a good way for us to bond because we live in different countries.
