"Literature Review II:Evaluating Scholarly Resources third Assignment "

“Literature Review II:Evaluating Scholarly Resources third Assignment ”
Instructions:

Please follow the instruction carefully. This is an order of 3 assignments for only 3 pages
Assignment 1: Objectives Week 5:Observation and the Role of Context, Bias, and Researcher Introduction
Maintaining integrity of research data is a goal of every researcher. To that end, as a researcher conducting a qualitative study, you must always remain aware of how outside factors-namely the context and environment, your personal bias, and your role as the researcher-may affect the integrity of your data.
For this week’s assignments, you will begin developing your observation skills, a common qualitative data collection technique, by observing a photograph as well as a public setting. You will then consider the roles of bias, context, and the researcher in the results of each observation.
Note: This week’s Application requires you to observe a public setting for 30 minutes. You may wish to look ahead to the Application assignment so that you may best plan your time for this week.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this week, you should be able to:
Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of observation as a data collection method
Correlate results of an observation to the roles of bias, context, and the researcher in qualitative research

Course Text: Qualitative Inquiry and Research Design: Choosing Among Five Approaches
Chapter 7, “Data Collection” In this chapter, Creswell discusses important aspects of the qualitative data collection process, including sampling selection, data collection techniques, ethical considerations, and strategies for recording and organizing the collected information.
Course Text: “Stretching” Exercises for Qualitative Researchers
Sample Field Note Format within Exercise 2.1: Observing a Still Life Scene (pp. 25-35)
Exercise 3.1: Nonparticipant Observation Assignment (pp. 66-67)
Cutie Beauty Salon (pp. 68–85) In the readings for this week, Janesick focuses on observation techniques, strategies, and exercises. These readings will assist you with the observations you will do for Discussion and Application this week.
Course Text: Qualitative Research and Evaluation Methods
Chapter 6, “Fieldwork Strategies and Observation Methods” This chapter contains strategies and techniques researchers can use to carefully and systematically develop their methods of observing so that they are able to make the most of their observation experiences.
Media:
“Doctoral Research: Ensuring Quality in Qualitative Research” (4:40 minutes) Click here to download a transcript of this video segment. In this video segment, qualitative research expert Laura Lynn talks about the issue of researcher bias in the interview process. To view this video program, use the media player located at the top of this page.
Photographs: For this week’s Discussion, you will observe only one of the photographs below. Your instructor will select a photograph for the class to observe and post this information by Day 1 of this week.
Observation of a Photograph Qualitative researchers often rely heavily on their observation skills in their research. This week, in order to enhance your observation skills, you will have a hands-on experience in which you conduct a close review of a photograph. To prepare for this Discussion:
Read Qualitative Inquiry and Research Design: Choosing Among Five Approaches; Qualitative Research and Evaluation Methods and view the video segment.
Consider the strengths and weaknesses of observation as a data collection method.
Access the photograph provided in the Resources for this week that your Instructor has selected for the class to observe for this assignment.
Set a timer for 5 minutes, and using a field notes format similar to the one provided on page 25 of “Stretching” Exercises for Qualitative Researchers, observe the selected photograph. For the posting, you will be asked to transform your field notes into two paragraphs.
With these thoughts in mind: Post by Day 3, a total of three paragraphs:
A one-paragraph analysis of the strengths and limitations of observation as a data collection method.
Your two-paragraph observation of the photograph, identifying which photograph you chose (if the instructor did not select one for the class).
When appropriate, be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the reading(s) and/or video program(s) and use APA format. Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings. Respond by Day 5 to at least two of your colleagues’ postings by comparing their responses with your own. Did each researcher see the same thing? Why or why not? In addition, you may respond to your colleagues’ postings in one or more of the following ways:
Ask a probing question.
Share an insight from having read your colleague’s posting.
Offer and support an opinion.
Validate an idea with your own experience.
Make a suggestion.
Expand on your colleague’s posting.

Assignmnt 2: Literature Review II – Evaluating Scholarly Resources
Introduction: It’s about quality not quantity.
This popular saying rings true for the literature review. While you may be tempted to include everything you read in your literature review, doing so may ultimately detract from the focus of your study. The key to writing a good literature review is to be selective and critical. You should only include information (e.g., prior research, theories, concepts, etc.) that is pertinent to your topic and is from reliable and scholarly sources. Another key to writing a good literature review is to have an idea of what you want to address before you begin writing.
This week, you evaluate a peer-reviewed journal article related to your topic. Then you begin to think about the theoretical or conceptual framework for your study.
Learning Objectives
Evaluate journal articles
Explain the theoretical and conceptual framework related to the dissertation topic
Annotate articles relevant to your dissertation topic
