President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law on March 23, 2010 in efforts to strengthen Medicare by lowering health costs, improve the quality of care to millions of people in America, and providing security by holding insurance companies accountable. The law is complex and is more than just an insurance reform. It is divided into ten titles to accommodate for the different parts of the health are system. What led to the Affordable Care Act and its development was because too many people in the nation did not have health insurance coverage and health care spending was unsustainable. In addition, the U.S. spends more on health care than any other nation but yields poor health outcomes and the need for change was necessary. This is the greatest reform of our time drastically influencing the health industry ensuring equity and efficiency.
