Part I:
Have you ever applied for a grant for scholarship work?
I have never applied for a grant for scholarship work. This week I learned about the opportunities to receive support from various organizations that fund scientific work in healthcare. One of the primary motivators in the world to perform research work is having financial support. Funding innovative projects saved the Australian government 23.4 billion dollars (D’Arriettatta et al., 2022).
Do you have a scholarship project idea that needs grant funding?
In my community, there is an outbreak of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among the younger populations. I have an idea to go to the local high schools and talk to the students about the risks and complications of contracting these diseases. Among the links provided in this discussion post, no grant is available specifically for my proposed project. Still, since my community demographic is primarily Hispanic and black African American, I could base my request on the need for racial and ethnic health equality. Unfortunately, this issue affects everyone regardless of background. The current literature does not address STDs appropriately and should be revised (Shannon & Klausner, 2018).
Part II
PICOT: For pregnant patients, during weeks 38-40 of gestation, does screening for depression with the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale, compared to current practice (postpartum period only), impact earlier identification and referrals to counseling in 8-10 weeks?
By now, the intervention is part of the workflow of the office. Patients are returning to their postpartum visits and are aware of their risk for postpartum depression. The staff routinely assesses the patients without complications. Week 8 for this session NR707 will be the seventh week of implementation, and week 1 for NR 709 will be the eighth and final week for the intervention. During week 2 of NR 709, I will collect the post-data and evaluate the results.
Kindly,
Danay Sosa
