Final Project
Throughout this course, we have discussed the negative consequences of physical inactivity, as well as the positive benefits of physical fitness and wellness. For your summative assessment, you will utilize this information to create a comprehensive, individualized personal action plan for your own physical activity and wellness goals.
You will create 8-10 slides (excluding title and reference slides) in PowerPoint or Empressr to present your individualized personal action plan.
As a first step, complete the Wellness Lifestyle Questionnaire on page 31 of your textbook. Identify and describe 3 opportunities for improvement (i.e., (a) increasing physical activity levels, (b) dietary changes, (c) reducing alcohol intake, etc.).
Create your wellness plan to specifically address these three specific areas of improvement (i.e. (a) bike 30 minutes a day, (b) eat 5 servings of vegetables a day, (c) find recipes for making non-alcoholic beverages.)
Utilize at least 5 of the following elements in your overall action plan:
Wellness, Longevity, and Fitness
Federal Guidelines for Physical Activity (including the National Activity Plan and the National Health Objectives for 2020)
Health and Economic Benefits of a Wellness Plan
Barriers to Change & Motivation to Change
2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans
Weight Management Strategies
FITT Principle of Exercise
The Mind-Body Connection
Exercise as Prevention for Chronic Disease
Physiological Age and Life Expectancy
A Lifetime Commitment to Fitness and Wellness
In your presentation, be sure to include detailed speaker notes on each slide.
