Before you begin, review the ”Requirements” section below and the

Audience: yourself and your instructor
Topic: Write an analysis/evaluation of your efforts and rewards in English 1302.
You will make judgments about your effort, evaluate your performance, and synthesize the information and skills you gathered.
Your paper will make connections to
(1) the theme of this course: “It’s not living that matters, but living rightly.”
(2) the theme of the poem “Advice to My Son”
(3) the ideas in Brookhaven College Open Book, In the Sea There Are Crocodiles
(4) the essays you wrote, including the one the first day of class
(5) the Student Learning Outcomes for English 1302
You will want to cover all the questions listed below, but your response will be
anchored in a meaningful thesis which connects the questions in a logical order,
and supports them with specific examples and details. Keep in mind that these
questions are not in logical order right now, and that your response will be in
traditional essay format, not question and answer. Think and plan first.
• What had you hoped to find out about the person you profiled? Did you?
• What new skills did you learn in these areas: MLA guidelines, composition, using sources, and document design? Any others?
• What do you think is the most interesting thing about Enaiatollah’s journey?
• Explain Socrates’ statement: “It’s not living that matters, but living rightly.” How
have your writings this semester impacted your own plan for living?
• What advice do you think your profile person would have for you?
• Did what you found out about your research person surprise you or change your view of him/her? Of yourself?
• At the beginning of this semester you stated your goal(s) for this course. Evaluate
how well you met your goals. Focus on you, not on the class, and provide specific supporting examples.
• What difficulties and personal victories did you experience in actually researching
and writing your papers? What personal strengths got you through all this?
• How did you benefit from the PPt presentations of your classmates?
Discuss two presentations which had an impact on you and explain why.
• In group work, did your collaborative learning skills improve?
