Transcribe the extract from CD-ROM, Band 6; ‘Kitchen Floor’. Using this data and relevant concepts and theories, discuss the extent to which language creativity can be identified in everyday conversation in English.

Apply some of the ideas that you have studied in the modules so far to a transcription of some real language data. There is no prescribed structure for your answer but it sure include the following:

• your transcription of the data
• a discussion of relevant ideas.
• analysis of features in this language data
• a conclusion that summarises your views on the creativity to be found in everyday language with reference to the data sample.

You should carefully review your study of the module material so far, including the set book by Ronald Carter, to select those you feel are most appropriate for your work on this essay. The focus of this essay is units 4-7. You may, however, also want to draw on material from units 1-3 where appropriate. Please note that you are not expected to use everything, but will need to be selective.
