Do you think that we waste too much edible food? What do you think causes waste in the food system? Are external factors like marketplace constraints the dominant factors? How do our own internal factors like rejection of imperfect food contribute? Do your own rules about food impacted waste in your household and how might you rethink them? What changes would you like to see in your environment that would help reduce food waste?

Writing your Think Piece. It has four parts: (1) Describe a context that you’ve experienced or observed where edible food is wasted (2) Explain the role of both external and internal factors in prompting that food waste (3) Explore your own rules and biases in regards to discarding edible food and reflect on how you might modify them to reduce waste(4). Summarize changes you’d like to try in your environment to help reduce food waste.  Your think piece is 300-500 words that address all four points.
