Advocacy Paper: Students will select a public health disease or concern and create an advocacy action plan. Topics are to be selected from the list provided on a first come first serve basis. Each student will write a 5-page paper (not including title page and references) outlining how they can become an advocate on the issue. Papers should be written in a factual based essay type format with APA style citation and include:
1.    Problem statement: Clearly state the issue you will advocate for.
2.    Background: Describe the history of this problem, why is it an issue that needs to be advocated for, who the issue affects (include epidemiological data such as incidence and prevalence).
3.    Current policy: Describe what, if anything, has already been done to address the issue, describe your position on the issue and how is it different from what already exists (do no simply agree with what is already being done), provide evidence that you position clearly differs from existing efforts.
4.    Ethical issues: Describe any ethical issues that may need to be considered.
5.    Spreading the word: Describe the channels of communication that you will use for advocating, describe how you will market your position, describe your individual action plan.
